We had a rockin’ Canada Day today.
A friend and I found Dooners dress at “Canadian Tire,” which inspired the other two to join in the red-and-white display. This was the most fun when we joined in the town parade, at which I forgot to take pictures.
The annual Canada Day cookout was cancelled because of COVID-19, but the hamlet put together “picnic baskets” (shopping bags stocked with hot dogs, buns, s’mores kits, and iced tea). We took ours to the local “beach,” which is a small sandy lake high on an esker one the local provincial park.
The water was definitely warm enough for a chilly swim! MiniMighty won the Little Fish prize, getting out only to briefly wolf down a little dinner and dessert.
I celebrated with a Canada Day cast on. It feels good to be knitting again.
We are so thankful for the unexpected privilege of living in this enormous, beautiful, complicated, exuberant country. Happy birthday Canada!
