I must be a Real Knitter – I packed yarn first

At the polite suggestion of my very sensitive and considerate husband, yesterday I didn’t read ANY Yarn Harlot archives and instead lived vicariously through myself for a change. Unfortunately, most of this involved working on the project-that-shall-not-be-named, which is far enough along now that I can’t post pictures of it anymore. Which is killing me, because it is finally not really boring. I’ll have to wait until it’s on its recipient, who may or may not read this blog. Probably not. Doy.

Yesterday I made a first swing at packing, if throwing a bunch of stuff that we may or may not bring onto the guest bed and dividing it into ambiguous piles counts as packing. I felt pretty good about it. The one thing I did succeed in fully and actually packing was all of my travel projects:

“California Dreamin'” Socks in Berroco’s Comfort Sock (free ravelry download)

A neat tank that is also a free ravelry download, also in Comfort Sock

When I get sick of Comfort Sock, I’ve got the Baby Yoda sweater (also a free ravelry download… see a trend?) in Lion Brand Recycled Cotton, “Seagrass”

And finally, Madli’s Shawl from knitting goddess Nancy Bush’s Lace Knitting of Estonia, the only really long term project of the lot.

I have high hopes that these projects will last me through the next two and a half weeks. At least they had better, else I might find myself cannibalizing the remnants of the project to make a truly hideous sort of hat thing. Can you imagine what that would look like? I can just see the stripes of bright red, businessy grey, and soft off-white, with a horrible green cotton pom-pom at the top. The sort of thing only my sister could look good in (she makes an art of wearing random crap and looking whimsically melancholic).

Tomorrow… a story of tragedy and loss as only a knitter could experience it.
