What happens when you don’t just “bee yourself”

So toodling along, reading Yarn Harlot archives, she mentions that she always unravels yarn from the inside of the ball. I’ve very rarely done this, but I am an impressionable person, and if the YH has seen fit to do it, I figure I might as well try it. The result?

Yeeah. I ended up pulling out the entire middle of a ball of sock yarn, getting it hopelessly tangled, picking it apart, winding it back up, discovering it was unusable this way, stuffing it all back into the middle of the ball of yarn, and pulling from the outside to cast on. (But my little top is quite cute, no?)

In happier news, I am exchanging commissions with my little sister – she’s drawing me a comic, and I’m making her a sweater. This provided the perfect excuse to purchase:

This gorgeous stuff is all-natural, undyed wool – i.e. instead of having a dye lot number, the yarn has a “flock number”. I love that. (To make this an even exchange, this is also her birthday present. Her birthday’s in September.)

Progress continues on the project-that-shall-not-be-named…. I got to spend several hours with mum today, working on it and talking about parenting.
