Last Minute Christmas Shopping?

It’s two weeks before Christmas, you haven’t found a gift for that special somebody, and you’re starting to get panicky. Never fear! Osborn Fiber is here, with some delightful hand-knit items for sale. I have things back from Sweetwater that didn’t sell, and while I’ve set a few things aside to be Christmas gifts, I’d love to share the love around a little.

All prices below are suggested; if you love something but don’t wan’t to pay that much, make me an offer. I’ll ship to you priority mail for free  (in the continental US); it’ll get to you by Christmas if you order by Dec. 18th. (Let me know if you need gift wrapped and sent directly to the recipient; I can do that too.) If you are interested, email me at osbornfiber at gmail dot com with your selection and address. Unless otherwise noted, all items are hand wash only. All prices are reduced 40% from what they cost at Sweewater.

HATS!

#1: “Modern Cloche” by Amy Loberg remains my favorite. It’s made with two colors of a wool/silk blend that is surprisingly warm. And who doesn’t love a little bow? I love the little bow. Will fit most adult women. $50

#2 is the “Cloche Chapeau” by Jennifer Stafford. It’s knit in the 100% merino Malabrigo Worsted, exceedingly soft in gorgeous shades of purple. Can be worn with the button placket pointing forward or backward. Will fit most adult women. $45

#3 is a top-down hat called “Rosasura” by Alegria DaSilva. (The little white thing is attached to a hidden tag; I forgot to take pictures before I put tags on. I’m sure you won’t sue me.) This is just fetching. It’s made from a wool, silk, and cashmere blend that is sturdy and soft. Will fit most adult women. $50

#4, “Lee” by Ysolda Teague is all about detail, from the star at the back to the brim lined in a contrasting color to the gathered bow at the front to the contrasting running stitch around the crown. It’s made with the same wool/silk/cashmere blend. Will fit a small women’s or medium-large child’s head (my head is definitely too big, so it will style more nicely for you!). $50

#5 is called “Quest” by Laura Nelkin on Knitty (this is Quest #1). I knit it from a sturdy-but-soft 100% wool yarn. Will fit medium to large adult women’s head size. $55

#6 is “Jamesina” by Christine Jones, knit from a soft fuzzy Mohair that traveled to me from New Zealand, witha crochet flower finished with a handmade clay button. It is more of a slouch hat than the others, and will fit an adult medium or large head. $45

#7 & #8 are both “Lucy” from the latest issue of Knitscene, knit out of our own Kirby Meritime. I love the little turned brim! The green hat with mauve band is an adult women’s small, while the purple hat with tan band is an adult medium-large. $40 each

RUANAS!

A ruana, if you didn’t know, is like a poncho, but totally open in front so it works more like a shawl. These are both made with my favorite wool/alpaca blend (hand wash only), are soft and cozy, and can be worn a number of ways. One of these would make a beautiful “big present” for the elegant woman in your life (or, you know, yourself!) $140. (Jared adds: baby bump not included)

Brown w/ seed stitch border

Grey-blue w/ scalloped border

To give you an idea of the back length (it falls to just above my bum, and I am 5’7″)

FINGERLESS GLOVES!

These arm warmers/fingerless gloves are a pattern of my own devising. The thumb hole is cleverly hidden in the seam, so if you wish to wear them just on your arms instead of over your hands as well, you can do so with equal elegance. One size fits all, from child large to adult women’s large. (Hand wash only.)

The wool/silk pairs are soft and light, and surprisingly warm. The same garment is shown three ways in the three colors available. $30

#1 Olive green

#2 Black

#3 Grey blue

(if you buy a blue or black pair with the matching #1 hat at the top of this post, made with the same yarn, i’ll give you a further 33% off the arm warmers – 20$.)

I have just one pair left of the wool/silk/mohair stripey ones I made. This fabric is a little thicker than the others, and very warm & cozy. $45

HANDSPUN NECKLACES!

These are all made from a strand of handspun yarn made with Lincoln locks. All include pendants from Etsy, and they are 25$ each.

#1: Navy blue with koi fish pendant

#2: Sky teal with circle heart pendant

#3: Pink & purple with silver tree pendant

#4: Olive green with bronze heart pendant

#5: Sunshine yellow with cherry blossom pendant

Thanks for looking, and considering supporting a handknitting artist. Again, shipping is FREE within the continental US and will arrive by Christmas if you order by Dec. 18th.

P.S. I didn’t do great at Sweetwater, which you can probably tell by how much I have left! With the economy and stuff, I get the impression that not many artists did super well. But it was a good experience to try to do a lot of knitting for a show. I might do it again someday.
