1. Bean juice left out for three days makes your kitchen smell like fish.
2. When you’re dyeing one skein two colors with a long-immersion dipping technique… do the lighter color first.

Since I’ve last written, I’ve almost finished one thing I can’t tell you about but gotten so bored that I cast on another thing I can’t tell you about. Realizing that this second thing was almost the same as the first, I cast on yet another thing I can’t tell you about, and quit procrastinating [...] Through a bizarre mix of circumstances, I haven’t knit for three days. I hate even typing that. My time at the shop has been consumed by adding twist to my recycled yarn; this translates to a lot of time at the spinning wheel. My time at home has been consumed by ripping out sweaters to gain said [...] Done and… Done. Lil’ brownies are complete, and with that…. I have no more knitting I can show you. There is literally NO knitting I am working on right now (and there is a lot) that is not a Christmas present for someone who might read this blog. However, it might not remain that way. For lack of clean laundry, [...] I have an inordinate, unreasonable, and inexplicable affection for pokeberries. I love their perfectly smooth, round, replete, purpleish-black berries. I love the little click sound they make when you pull a perfectly ripe one off its stem. I love the fuscia color they stain my hands, and how [relatively] easily it washes off. Right now, my freezer looks sort [...] It is cold. And wet. And a good day to think about warm things. So for all of you who are wondering what the heck this - is, I did some experiment to figure out how many ways the Instacowl (copyright me) can be worn. With the help of the bathroom mirror, this is what I figured [...] The gauntlet, that is. It’s fall. There’s no denying it. I’ve started wearing sweaters all the time, our winter coats have seen a little sunlight, and Jared & I are watching the weather forecast carefully to know when to bring our finally-producing tomato plants indoors. What clinched it for me was when the parking-lot-view from our [...] Phew. So I’ve finally recovered from life enough that my laundry is actually folded. This is saying something… it had been piling up in a major way, and the only reason it wasn’t covering the dining room table is because we happen to be rather attached to eating off it. Heck, the only reason it’s [...] Technically, Oktoberfest ended on the 4th. But it’s Oktober, and we’re Festing, so as far as we’re concerned, the holiday is nowhere near over. Last night we were supposed to go to a Jars of Clay concert, but we found out that morning that they had canceled it (tears!). My husband is not easily daunted, though, [...] It’s time for the reveal. Over the past several days, I’ve been goofing around with dyestuffs. (I bought rubber gloves this time.) So far I’ve collected and frozen about eight gallons of these: (Pokeberries) and a decent-sized bag of black walnuts.
